Health Certificate Information/Charges
International Consult Fee (In Room or Telemedicine) - $125
This is to go over owner requests for 1+ pets for international travel as well as review records to provide appropriate estimates. Records should be obtained from other veterinarians or from owners to ideally include rabies certificates, microchip information, and any vaccine/testing information (e.g., FAVN).
If records are unavailable, Dr. Elsarelli will go over as much information with the client as they have and attempt to outline a rough timeline based on what information is available, but the owner should be prepared to start from scratch based on the country they are going to.
There is a 72-hour notice for in-room appointments for cancellation. Otherwise, the deposit is kept.
FAVN Testing - $528.27 (Current cost as of 4/15/2025)
This is the Rabies Titer Test that is often required depending on the destination country. Boca Park Animal Hospital sends samples through our reference laboratory to Kansas State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KSU VDL) which is the internationally recognized lab that completes the FAVN test.
On average, the results of this test can take 4 weeks with high travel periods having longer processing times. On occasion, test results can come back sooner, but this cannot be predicted and should not be planned on.
Health Certificate - Starting at $990
This includes examination, issuing the health certificate from Dr. Elsarelli (USDA Accredited Veterinarian), review and endorsement by the USDA government veterinarian, and shipping requirements to get the signed copy of the endorsed document to the owner. Shipping is often via FedEx Overnight.
Administration fees are included for all communication completed to the owners/pets directly from Dr. Elsarelli with the USDA to ensure all paperwork is completed appropriately.
Any additional fees are provided on the estimate for flea/tick medications, vaccines, etc. that may be dependent on the destination country.
