What to expect – Your pet will be staying with us for most of the day. The staff may contact you prior, during and after the procedure. Therefore, please make sure that you are available to take phone calls at the provided number all day.
As the veterinary team prepares your pet for their procedure, your veterinarian will do the following:
- Review bloodwork and perform an exam to evaluate the overall health of your pet prior to anesthesia.
- Determine an anesthetic plan made specifically for your pet.
- Ensure that your pet is monitored throughout the procedure and during recovery.
- Recognize and quickly respond to any complications if they develop.
- Assess and manage your pet’s potential pain level before, during and after the procedure.
If your pet is having a dental cleaning, the staff may contact you during the procedure if they need to authorize for further treatments or oral surgery.
Please Verify Your Phone Number At The Top Of This Sheet.
We will contact you at the listed numbers on the account and the one listed here. If you are not reachable, we will have to recover the patient from anesthesia without proceeding. This means you would have to return at a separate time for another procedure at an additional cost.
*All Surgeries require a $200 non-refundable deposit. (Surgery can be rescheduled within 24 hours of original appointment time.)
*Specialist Surgeries-We require a deposit of $2,000.00 with Dr. Bilicki. Once deposit is taken, you have 72 hours before the procedure to cancel for $1,000.00 refund.

*We offer complimentary nail trims for anesthetic procedures. If you DO NOT want us to trim your pet’s nails, please inform us. v
*We provide emailed copy of all discharge instructions, if you need a printed copy, please request at checkout.
Preparation: The skin around the surgical site will be shaved and scrubbed with an antiseptic. Sometimes irritation, sensitivity or bruising will result in this area. We follow all sterile procedure requirements. (Sterile surgical preparation, surgery packs and surgical attire)
Catherization: For most anesthetic procedures, an intravenous catheter (IVC) is placed to provide and easy route to administer medications and fluid therapy which maintains blood pressure and supports kidney function during their procedure. A small patch of fur will be shaved to place an IVC. Sometimes irritation, sensitivity or bruising will result in this area. We may have to shave multiple places to obtain optimum vein access.
Monitoring: All patients are monitored during anesthetic procedures with an ECG machine, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, core body temperature and capnograph. In addition to monitoring equipment, all anesthetic procedures are manually monitored by the doctor or a dedicated nurse anesthetist during their procedure.
CPR: your pet may require cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including cardiac compressions, positive pressure respiration, emergency medications, or other interventions. If I request such emergency procedures, I agree to be held responsible for veterinary services provided to my pet while staff members pursue treatment and try to reach me for further directions. Regardless of my pet’s recovery or survival, I agree to be financially responsible and pay for CPR fees in addition to other fees already identified by the practice and agreed upon by me. I understand that in performing today’s procedure(s) my pet will receive a sedative or undergo general anesthesia. I understand that anesthetic and surgical procedures may involve a risk for unforeseen complications, regardless of patient’s age, health condition or side effects to medicine. Your pet may incur the risk of injury or even death from known and unknown causes. There is no guarantee has either been expressed or implied as to the result or cure, and I am encouraged to discuss any concerns I have about those risks with my veterinarian or nurses prior to the procedure.
*CPR is initiated in all pets if it should be required. The phone number on file will be contacted should CRP have to be initiated, and a doctor will speak with you. If you do not wish to have CPR (life saving interventions) should something arise, you need to inform the nurse upon check-in. Be advised that if your pet will be staying the night at Boca Park Animal Hospital, there is no overnight supervision by our staff.
**Our staff establishes an order for surgeries each day, however, emergencies do take precedence and a procedure may have to be rescheduled. In the rare event a procedure needs to be rescheduled, we will make our best effort to accommodate and reschedule the procedure for the earliest mutually available time.
